Face steam bath
Even if we wash the facial skin every day, more intensive cleaning is sometimes necessary, especially when the skin is exposed to dust and exhaust gases. Here, a facial steam bath sometimes works wonders. It's more than just hot steam! It enables gentle cleaning, can prevent pimples and blackheads and, in addition, stimulates the blood circulation in the skin - your complexion is revitalized. The hot steam opens the pores and sebum glands. With the addition of certain herbs, skin-medical effects can also be achieved with a facial steam bath. And the best thing is: This type of facial cleansing is suitable for every skin type.
Preparation of the facial steam bath.
A facial steam bath is simply prepared. Put a handful of flowers or herbs in a larger bowl and pour hot water over them. If you want, you can also drop 3-5 drops of essential oil (mix the oil with a tablespoon of honey before adding it to the water). Now sit comfortably at a table, bend your head over the water and put a towel over your head. The distance between your face and the bowl should be about 30 cm. If the steam is too hot, you can wait a short time before starting the facial steam bath.
Important: do not forget to free your face from makeup and clean it thoroughly before a steam bath.
After a facial steam bath, there may be redness on the face, which is quite normal and due to the increased blood flow.
With easily inflammatory skin
A marigold steam bath helps with inflammatory skin. Pour hot water over a handful of dried marigold flowers in a bowl. You now have to bend your head over the hot marigold steam for ten minutes so that the active ingredients can penetrate the skin. To improve your complexion, you can do the steam bath two to three times a week.
Relaxing lavender steam bath
A lavender facial steam bath is the ideal choice after a stressful day. The scent of lavender is relaxing and calming. Ingredients: a handful of dried lavender flowers, or 2 drops of lavender essential oil and 1 tbsp honey.
Proper care afterwards
A facial steam bath optimally prepares your skin for further care steps. Your pores are open after the steam bath and are particularly receptive to any care. Rinse your face with cool water or treat it with facial toner. Thanks to the freshness kick, your complexion looks particularly fresh. Then a face mask provides your skin with an extra portion of moisture and care. A cleansing or nourishing mask can be absorbed much better by the skin after the steam bath.
The rose garden intensive face mask pampers and nourishes your skin with vital substances, vitamins and moisture from the algae and hyaluronic acid. You should apply the mask to the cleaned skin and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Then wash off with lukewarm water, pat dry with a tissue and apply a care cream.
Steam bath for health
Facial steam baths are not only good for the skin, they can also serve well for colds. This is an old home remedy that used to be used for fixed cough and runny nose and has lost none of its effectiveness today. Inhaling the hot steam relieves coughing and moisturizes the dry, irritated nasal mucosa. A chamomile steam bath in particular is very effective. The active ingredients fight bacteria and relieve cold symptoms.
